ND5 Class (phase ii.) diesel locomotives
ND5 locomotives were built in the United States by General Electric. The model classification in the US was C36-7 and out of 599 examples built, 422 went to China. The second group of 200 arrived in 1986 and hosted a variety of modifications to their phase i brethren. The livery was painted dark green/gold. Both air reservoirs were moved to the rear of the fuel tank, the nose was lowered and larger windows on the cab provided, losing one of the forward doors as a result. They have enjoyed a long life in China due to their reliability with most still in service today.
