HXD1C Class electric locomotives
The HXD series (known as 'harmony') are the most modern electric locomotives in China set to replace the ShaoShan series. They seem to lack the flair of many of the SS series, however they are certianly imposing and impressive beasts. The HXD1C's are very similar to their more powerful brethren, the HXD1B, with only minimal external differences, and are used primarily on freight trains (up to 5500 tonnes). These are starting to eat into the bulk of the freight traffic on electrified lines and I believe it will be only a few years before they make up the bulk of it, leaving the classic ShaoShan's in history.
