Colin Hussey

Colin is currently building an Australian layout based in New South Wales, but also collects Chinese rolling stock. He has modified one of his QJ locomotives with 'elephant ear' smoke deflectors and weathered it.

Fred Hempsall

Fred has rebuilt a non-powered N scale DF4D by prado into a working one! He has found that the shell fits nicely onto an N gauge Bachmann Spectrum dash 8 chassis.

Henry Tang

Henry Tang has built kitbashed some locomotives and passenger cars into some deperately needed types. (Take note Bachmann China!) So far he has built SS3B, SS6B, SS4G locomotives and several 25K passenger coaches (KD, CA, XL, YW, RW).

Martin Wong

Martin is currently rebuilding a DF4D into an Alsthom ND4 model (top six photos). Looks very promising and I look forward to an update. Martin has also kitbashed a pair Euro Runners into KCR ER20's happy to present on his behalf a pair of KCRC (Hong Kong) ER20 diesels. Martin has used two Roco models as the foundation models. Both locomotives were stripped right back and repainted in KCR livery, after some minor modifications to the roof, headlights and pilots.

Peter Oetterli

Peter Oetterli is my modelling mentor and is helping me with the Wangkui layout. He has a sister operation at his house which takes trains from Wangkui (my layout) to Wangkui West and Anda (OK - use a little imagination!). Only one image of his layout so far, which shows off some of his masterful ballast work.

Ralph Weibel

Ralph Weibel has been building Chinese models for sometime now. he has recently built a house with a special train room where he will be building a behemoth Chinese steam dynasty. Ralph uses many commercial products, but scratchbuilds much of his rolling stock as well. He has provided me with much modelling assistance, most notably one of my cabooses.

Richard Hobbs

Richard Hobbs has recently appeared in Continental Modeller with his models and Changchun layout. Below are three of his kitbashed models. The top photo is his model of QJ2 0001. The loco chassis is from a PIko German class 52, with the body and tender scratchubuilt. The second photo show his model of an SL7. The chassis is of an IHC pacific, with the body and tender scratchbuilt from thin plasticard. The nose was made from sheets of plasticard and then sanded back to get the shape right. The final photo shows two RM class pacifics, one completed in the back ground. The second will soon be completed. These are both using IHC/Mehano chassis.

Sammy King

Sammy has recently finished the scenery on his Ling Jiao Tielu. The layout is constructed on tan painted plywood and covered in saw dust mixed with plaster and latex paint to give it a semi- arid look, typical of the Northern areas of China. He has made sure the whole lot is cat resistant, something I regret not doing! The track design is an around the walls loop with an engine terminal, a passing track with a small tower and simple concrete platform, and a three track container yard. The track is code 83 Atlas with concrete and wood ties. The minimum radius is 24 inches and the switches are all #6's using high level manual ground throws. Since the layout has been completed, Sammy has been making some great additions to his SY's. His most recently completed example is Zhalainuoer SY 1257, featuring a red star on the smokebox, homemade pilot, hose reel, coal box extension, some plumbing corrections and new paint on the pilot wheel, whistles, handrails etc.

The second last photo shows his latest addition, a KD6 2-8-0, built from a DJH kit. The last photo show a line up of differnet classes of steam power on the Ling Jiao Tielu.
